|      Ms. Carol Bellany is in her tenth year as UNICEF’s Executive Director. As director she has been focusing on five goals. They are for early childhood care and survival, to vaccinate every child, making sure that all children get a quality education, reducing HIV/AIDS, and protecting children from violence and exploitation.
Bellany has been successful in devoting more time to children, believing that it will help to ensure a safer and more dignified world. Visiting more than 100 countries has allowed for Bellany to challenge leaders to realize the importance of children.
Before coming to UNICEF Bellany was Director of the US Peace Corps, Managing Director at Bear Stern & Co., Principal at Morgan Stanley and Co., associate at Cravath, Swaine, and Moore, and was a public official including four years in the New York State Senate. She graduated from Gettysburg College in 1963 and then furthered her education in law school at New York University. |
| Doctors without Borders or Médecins Sans Frontières deliver aids to countries that have one of the four situations: wars and conflicts, natural or man-made disasters, refugees and displaced people, and long-term assistance. They are in numerous countries to help the people get medical care and vaccines. Their goal was to give medical care to people regardless of race, religion, creed or political affiliation, and that the needs of these people supersede respect for national borders. Doctors without Borders were started by a group of French doctors that believed everybody deserved this. Doctors without Borders is a non-profit organization that leads the way in the world with emergency medical care.
