Disease Control How To Help Project Narrative Credits

UNICEF and other world organizations help to immunize 2.5 million children each year against common childhood diseases but they could be immunizing 2 million more with more help.

This section of the website reviews seven preventable diseases: diphtheria, measles, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, rubella, and pertussis.

Diphtheria, tetanus, tuberculosis, and pertussis are caused by bacteria. Polio, measles, and rubella are caused by viruses. All of these germs have been in the world for thousands of years and they still cause millions of deaths and illnesses each year.

It wasn’t until the 20th century that vaccines were developed to prevent these horrible diseases.

The challenge now is to help vaccinate and care for children all around the world so that these diseases will no longer be a threat. Volunteers, workers, donations, and campaigns all together can help the world to get rid of these diseases and create a better world for everyone.
